This page explains how Bopomofo Typing ("this site") handles information. Learning data stays on your device. We use external services for traffic analytics and for contact messages you choose to submit, as described below.

Where your data is stored
Your learning data — word lists, practice results, and settings — is stored only in your browser (localStorage). It is never sent to our servers. To remove it, clear this site's data from your browser's settings using "Clear site data".
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand overall traffic and performance. They use no cookies and aggregate details such as visit time, page URL, referrer, country or region, operating system, browser, device type, Web Vitals, and anonymous error categories without directly identifying you. Error messages, typed content, and learning data are not sent.
Contact messages
When you submit the contact form, your selected topic, optional name, reply-to email address, and message are sent to Web3Forms and forwarded to the site operator. Submission is optional. The information is used only as needed to reply or act on your message.
Text-to-speech
Reading words and symbols aloud uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis. No audio data is sent anywhere for this feature.
No accounts
Using this site requires no sign-up or login. You do not need to enter a name or email address unless you choose to submit a contact message.
Data sources
The dictionary and vocabulary used for practice are built from CC-CEDICT, the MOE Revised Mandarin Chinese Dictionary, and the HSK and TOCFL word lists. Each source is used in accordance with its own license.
